W&M Continues On Lecture Circuit

Wahab and Medenica continues its commitment to lecturing and providing expertise in an academic setting. In 2006 W&M partners shall be lecturing throughout the city.


MODERATING PARTNERSHIP CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION PANEL

On March 29th, 2006, Olivera Medenica will be moderating an educational panel for lawyers regarding the basics and intricacies of partnership law. As her practice often sees partnership issues in startup and mature company environments, she will frame the panel in terms of the key issues a practitioner should be aware of.


SPEAKING ON LEGAL ISSUES CONFRONTING LAWYER BLOGGING

On April 22, 2006, Kaiser Wahab will be speaking at an attorney continuing education panel regarding the legal issues that confront lawyers who blog. Kaiser, an active legal blogger will share his knowledge regarding ethical duties unique to attorneys in this arena as well as the online application of anti-defamation and anti-fraud laws.

AND TAXATION

On May 22nd, 2006, Olivera Medenica will be moderating an educational panel for lawyers regarding the intricacies of independent film financing and tax law. Other issues discussed include the role of effective counsel in indie film, licensing, and securities law for indie film productions.


MODERATING FORUM ON VIDEO GAME LAW

On May 2nd, 2006, Olivera Medenica will moderate a forum on video game law. As this industry continues to develop, grow, and challenge other industries for living room domination, attorneys must be prepared to assure the fabulous growth is sustained. Olivera will frame the issues for a panel of industry attorneys and players.

NEW YORK STATE SOCIETY OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS (NYSSCPA)

W&M partner Kaiser Wahab will be a featured speaker at the NYSSCPA on May 23rd 2006. Kaiser will discuss typical contracts in the music industry from a royalty accounting perspective. Other issues discussed include the licensing and protection of artist copyrights.

What are the current financing models for feature films in Hollywood? How are funding deals made? Panelists will discuss the current state of the film industry in the United States and abroad as well as traditional and alternative U.S. and international financing models for feature films (Germany, U.K., Australia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Canada, among others). The discussion will also focus on current U.S. federal Section 181 financing models (e.g. note structure, product placement), current state tax credits, future of federal and state audiovisual tax incentives, soft funding qualifications and common pitfalls of U.S. film fund structures.
